RERUN CAMERA — SETUP & TROUBLESHOOTING

Rerun adds a virtual camera called Rerun Camera to your Mac. macOS asks you to approve it once; after that it shows up in your video apps like any physical camera.

First-time setup

1. Open Rerun. The welcome window explains each step as you go.

2. Approve the camera extension when macOS prompts:

• macOS 15 or later: System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions → enable Rerun.
• macOS 13–14: System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down and click Allow.

3. Grant camera access when macOS asks — Rerun needs your real camera to record the loop.

4. Record a loop. Click the Rerun icon in the menu bar (or the Dock icon), choose Record Loop, sit naturally for a bit, then Stop & Review and Accept Loop.

5. Pick the camera. In Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime, or any video app, select “Rerun Camera” as your camera.

Troubleshooting

“Rerun Camera” doesn’t appear in my video app

Video apps scan for cameras when they launch — fully quit the video app and reopen it after setup. If it still doesn’t appear, confirm the extension is enabled (paths above), then restart your Mac; macOS occasionally needs a reboot to finish activating a camera extension.

The camera shows “Open Rerun to start video”

That placeholder means the extension is working but the Rerun app isn’t sending frames yet. Open Rerun and go live or start a loop.

The approval prompt never appeared

Quit and reopen Rerun to re-trigger it, and check both System Settings paths above — the switch can exist even when the prompt didn’t show. On stubborn setups, approve, then restart the Mac.

My Mac is managed by a school or company

Device management (MDM) can block camera extensions entirely. Rerun is built for personal Macs; on a managed machine your IT policy decides, and we can’t override it.

How do I uninstall the virtual camera?

In Rerun 1.0.2 and later: Rerun → Settings (⌘,) → Uninstall Virtual Camera. In 1.0.1: right-click the menu bar icon → Uninstall Virtual Camera. macOS shows its own admin confirmation. You can reinstall anytime from the Setup Guide.

Still stuck?

Email support@reruncam.com with your macOS version and the video app you’re using — that’s usually enough to spot the problem.
