Responsible Use
OUR POSITION, IN PLAIN LANGUAGERerun exists for a simple, human reason: cameras stay on for hours, and people are not statues. It was built after its developer was reprimanded for turning off video during a bathroom break in a remote class.
What Rerun is for
Stepping away briefly — the door, a coffee, a breath, a bathroom break — during camera-on, low-interaction sessions where you are one tile among dozens: a long lecture, a webinar, a training, an all-hands. It also serves people with real reasons not to broadcast a live feed every minute: camera anxiety, accessibility needs, or simple privacy at home.
What Rerun is not for
• Exams, quizzes, or anything proctored or live-monitored — do not use Rerun there, period.
• Graded participation, or attendance where you are individually assessed.
• Any moment when someone is counting on you to respond.
• Misrepresenting your presence to people who have a right to expect it.
Your school’s and workplace’s policies apply to you, not to us — know them and respect them. You are responsible for how you use Rerun.
Honesty by architecture
Rerun has no network access. It cannot stream, upload, or impersonate you over the internet — your loop is a local video file played to a local virtual camera, and nothing ever leaves your Mac. See the privacy policy.
